BIO

 

Star is a little ball of anger, obsidian, lava and water. They used to be a cute, curious spirit but after becoming disillusioned with their world they retreated to the deep sea. They've since returned to the surface, with an undying hatred towards the modern world. They're a really brooding kind of character.​

APPEARANCE

 

Star is roughly the size of a small dog. They have three heads, wings and long spindly legs. Their tail is long and smooth, with a sprig of fur and a grossly oversized dinoflagellate on the end. Most often they appear as an esk made partially of lava and partially of water, but they can also reduce these elements to a floating blob of lava and water above them. Under certain conditions they can display only one half of their body with an element. Sometimes they will have their tail, back and middle head to appear as their original body, but they can have that part of them show as obsidian too. Although they have three heads they have one consciousness, though each head has a different voice. Only one will usually speak at a time but for dramatic effect they can speak with all heads at once.

They have a siphonophore familiar that occasionally appears near them. When on land it can be spotted washing onto the shore and underwater it can be found floating in the distance or circling around Star.

​

Before they became abnormal, Star was a small, shaggy esk with cream colored fur and a tail made entirely of a dinoflagellate. They had a fan of fur that fell to their knees and a small head with bugged eyes. They were also able to turn their entire body into water.

​

Star can be depicted in their current form, or in any of their previous appearances before their retransformation.

RELATIONSHIPS

 

Lad - 1390

Lad transformed Star. Their relationship became a bit estranged since their second transformation, after the beach both esk lived on became polluted. Star was quite fond of Lad and he taught them everything that he knew. However, he became overbearing and Star wanted to explore the world. The beach became popular among humankind and while Lad faded into soulsickness Star grew anger in their heart towards humanity. This caused tension between the two, and once Star sought a second transformation they haven't seen him since.

Stump - 1630

Star met Stump in the conservatory and while the two have wildly different boundaries they enjoy each other's company.

Faye - 2070

A friend of Star's. They enjoy causing mischief together.

Keel - 2407

Star doesn't know Keel very well. They know of her, and they have suspicions that she was transformed to fill the gap Star left behind in Lad's life.

Star can be freely used in the stories of other esk.

TRANSFORMATIONS

Star will tend to transform animals, esk, plants or natural objects, but never anything manmade or a human.

BACKSTORY

 

Before their transformation, Star was a Portuguese man o' war that drifted to shore. They began to dry out before they were transformed by Lad, an esk living in the area. Lad taught Star all that he knew, and raised them as if they were his own child. Star explored the world and met some friends, and on various adventures they learned about the world and how to control water. Several years after their transformation, the beach that they occupied began to be visited more and more often by humans, and after witnessing an oil spill Star felt completely disconnected from the beach and the surface. Retreating deep underwater, they sought a second transformation and connected with the quiet of the deep sea. Here, they obtained their lava element. They now often come to the surface and they enjoy flying, but they hold a great resentment towards humanity and has attempted to attack buildings, boats and people on several occasions.
